A Prayer for All Victims of the Manchester Attack
Today, we think of those who lost their lives in the unspeakable attack on Manchester. We pray they rest in peace.
We think of those who have lost loved ones and now must face life without them, in the most painful of circumstances.
Finally, we pray for peace both in our home country and all around the world.
In your mercy, hear our prayer.
Nepal Earthquake Two Years On
Today we pray for the people of Nepal. We remember those who lost their lives in the earthquake, as well as those who survived but live on without loved ones.
We pray for the continued emotional, spiritual and physical recovery of Nepal and it’s people.
In your mercy,
St George’s Day
Your rule of love is over the whole of creation without regard to boundaries and nations. As we celebrate all that is distinctively English in the yearly remembrance of St George, help us so to be confident in our own place in the world that we are unafraid to embrace those who think, act and behave differently, either in our next street or across the world. Teach us that there are many ways of living and practising faith and to support others in their ways is not betray our own.
We ask this prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Submitted by Reverend David Vonberg, Feed the Minds supporter
Your wooden cross has become a gold cross, a symbol of salvation.
Help us not to take this change too lightly.
So we pray now for those we know, and our project partners, working in hard and difficult places.
May they know the assurance of your love and resurrected life.
Submitted by our trustee Dr Frances Shaw.
Friday 17th March
Saint Patrick’s Day
in your providence you chose your servant Patrick
to be the apostle of the Irish people,
to bring those who were wandering in darkness and error
to the true light and knowledge of your Word:
Grant that walking in that light
we may come at last to the light of everlasting life
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Women’s World Day of Prayer
The country theme for this year’s Women’s World Day of Prayer is “Am I Being Unfair To You?” and the country we are celebrating this year is the Philippines.
Through our partnership with the Women’s World Day of Prayer we are able to support a new project working with young people in the Philippines, galvanising them and training them to become community leaders. Today we offer this prayer written by Noel de Leon,Vice President for Creative Planning & Project Development, Communication Foundation for Asia.
Lord, in your wisdom you said, ‘Your sons and daughters will prophesy…your young men will see visions’ (Acts 2:17). Touch the youth of the Philippines with your Spirit. Set them ablaze with your power. Energize them to do good, fight evil, and unite their people in the love that only your Word can make real.
This we pray in the mighty name of Jesus.

Wednesday 1st March
A special prayer for St David’s Day and the beginning of Lent, written by long-term supporter, Mary Anderson
On this Ash Wednesday, may we act and be like St. David – Dewi Sant – in his humility and forgiveness.
May we care, like him, for other people in our daily lives, and for those in other lands who are struggling with war, violence and deprivation.
We pray especially for South Sudan, where a famine has recently been declared. Inspire us both to prayer and to action.
In Jesus’ name.
And a traditional Welsh prayer:
Gweddi Dydd Gŵyl Dewi
Diolch, diolch am Gymru, diolch am wlad, am dir, am iaith.
Diolch, diolch am Iesu, am ei gariad, am ei waith;
dyma weddi Dydd Gŵyl Dewi, de a gogledd, cenwch gân:
boed i’r Cymry garu’r Iesu cadwn calon yn calon lân.
St. David’s Day prayer
Thanks, thanks for Wales
thanks for our country, land and language.
Thanks, thanks for Jesus, for his love and his work;
this is a St David’s Day prayer, north and south, sing this song:
let us in Wales love Jesus and keep our hearts pure.
Tuesday 21st February
A special prayer as famine is declared in South Sudan
Please protect and help those who are suffering famine in South Sudan.
We ask that they may find peace and security in their country in order that they can flourish again soon.
We keep all of those effected by the drought in our hearts, through your love.
Tuesday 14th February
A special prayer for St. Valentine’s Day
I said a Valentine prayer for you
and asked the Lord above
to fill your heart and bless your soul
With the precious gift of love.
I asked Him for sincere love
The kind that’s meant to stay
Just like the generous love
You give to those you touch each day.
I prayed for love from family
And from every cherished friend
Then I asked the Lord to give you
His love that knows no end.
Friday 3rd February
A prayer celebrating education, written by our Trustee, Paul Langridge
Grant to all teachers and others the wisdom and ability to bring the gift of reading to all people.
To read is to be able to understand our world better and our place in it.
To read is to be independent of thought and not always accept that what we are told is true.
To read is the key to a new world of stories and ways to free the imagination.
To read brings knowledge of many things and the ability to use this knowledge in a careful and practical way to benefit everyone.
Open the eyes of those who, through fear or ignorance, deny others the right to read and make them realise that it is something that can enhance all lives.
Friday 25th November
A special prayer written to mark International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
We ask in your mercy for you to protect all those women who are at risk from violence.
Gender based violence is an abhorrent crime and there is no place for it in the loving world we are trying to build.
Please help people learn that violence against women is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated.
We pray especially for our projects which work to build peace between men and women in their communities.
Loving God, we ask that you hear our prayer on this special day.
Tuesday 1st November
A prayer written by our trustee, Reverend Jonathan Kerry
God of all,
We thank you for your gifts of mind – thinking, learning, knowing, enjoying.
We thank you for your living Word, Jesus, who feeds our minds with your wisdom, truth and love.
We thank you for all who teach, train, stimulate curiosity, delight us with creativity and widen our horizons.
Build up every man, woman and child we pray, into the fullness of the person you created them to be.
In the name of Jesus, who came that we might have life in all its fullness.
Thursday September 8th
A prayer written for International Literacy Day 2016
Kindly written by our colleague Christine Alfons from ECAW, Kenya
Literacy means the ability to read and understand something.
This year’s International Literacy Day theme is ‘Reading the Past, Writing the Future’.
I hereby pray that the Almighty God will help all the stakeholders involved to ensure we play our role well so that every man and woman will become empowered for the social change we advocate for through improving literacy.

Lord Jesus, Light of the World,
Shed new light upon the thinking of the world-wide Church.

Knead together your world-wide Church.
Stir within us a deeper sense of our inter-dependence.
Lord Jesus Water of Life,
Cleanse and refresh your world-wide Church.
Spring within us the life that brings blessing on others.
Lord Jesus, Way to the Father,
Guide your world-wide church.

We pray they may overcome the trauma they have suffered.
Friday 3rd June
A prayer written by our Chair, Christine Elliott
God of hope and transformation
Life giver and reconciler
May we be open to the challenges that we face so that we can be
Open to be transformed into beacons of hope
Open to be renewed and invigorated with energy
Open to be reconciled with those people we meet day by day and become more loving
And in all and through all, may we be open to be seen as the face of Christ by those we meet.

Sunday 27th March – Easter Sunday
A special Easter prayer, for this most special day:
the resurrection of Your Son
has given us new life and renewed hope.
Help us to live as new people
in pursuit of the Christian ideal.
Grant us wisdom to know what we must do,
the will to want to do it,
the courage to undertake it,
the perseverance to continue to do it,
and the strength to complete it.

10th February 2016
As we enter Lent, we offer our prayers during this special time of reflection.
“Yet even now, says the Lord, return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; rend your hearts and not your clothing. Return to the Lord, your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love, and relents from punishing. Who knows whether he will not turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, a grain-offering and a drink-offering for the Lord, your God?”
12th November 2015
At this time of year we reflect on those who have lost their lives through war, and those still suffering the consequences of conflict. Please pray for them.
We pray for all those people around the world who are being affected by war.
We keep in mind those who live with conflict on a day to day basis, who have lost loved ones, and those who have lost their lives in war.
May the Holy Spirit find them and bring them peace.
We pray for our partners and colleagues who work hard every day to end conflict and help people find peace in their communities and families.
Lord, please grant peace to all those suffering through conflict and war.
24th June 2015
As news moves on and other events occur, we ask you to keep those who are forgotten by news coverage in your minds. Our partner in Nepal is still struggling to rebuild after the earthquake and in Sierra Leone, the effects of the Ebola crisis are still present. Keep them in your prayers.
We ask that you give those working in difficult conditions the strength to continue.
We call on your grace to help those who are trying to rebuild their lives after the devastation of a natural disaster, war or disease.
Dear God, we ask that you grant those who have the ability to help the willingness to do what they can in action or prayer.
In your name, I pray for the safety and protection of others less fortunate than myself.
6th May 2015
Please pray for our partner organisation ETSC Nepal, affected by the recent earthquake. We are working with them in small rural communities.
May those who are paralysed by fear …
Be strong and take heart
May those who have lost or are still searching for loved ones …
Be strong and take heart
May those who remain trapped under rubble …
Be strong and take heart
May those rescue workers who provide relief and recovery …
Be strong and take heart
May those who are moved with compassion to help …
Be strong and take heart
God, whose love knows no bounds,
fill all those who suffer with your comfort and peace.
We ask all this through Christ, our Lord.
