A path to a positive future
We’ve worked with Craftshare Vocational Training Centre in Bo since 2002. To date, we’ve trained thousands of unemployed people in construction, carpentry and catering – and practical literacy skills.
We’re currently training 990 young people in Bo, most of whom have missed out on education. As well as helping people to earn sustainable incomes, our training builds their self-esteem and reduces local crime.

The Ebola Crisis
Our contacts in Sierra Leone have been keeping us abreast of what is happening on the ground. They sent us this summary of what is happening.
Craftshare has joined hands with the government and other organizations in the fight against Ebola. Craftshare is educating their staff and trainees to avoid contact with infected people, wash hands with chlorine, and not to panic.
‘Here in Sierra Leone the government has declared a state of public health emergency. It means there are quarantines in the areas most affected. Movements are restricted in certain areas, and gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited.
The government has authorized the closure of all schools. Places of entertainment are operating on a reduced level. There are no more handshakes when we share the peace in the churches, etc.
Our country –Sierra Leone is under heavy attack with the worst sickness in the world called EBOLA. The education and economy of the Sierra Leone has dropped drastically because of Ebola epidemic.
Many parents have died leaving their children as orphans. Many other family members have lost their jobs and businesses. Also many homes have been quarantined without proper care. The country has lost many medical Doctors, Nurses and important health workers since the outbreak of this deadly disease.’

Pray for everyone effected
Craftshare sent us the following prayers and asked our supporters to keep them in their thoughts and prayers.
There is no known cure for Ebola, but people who are diagnosed and seek skilled medical treatment early have a chance to recover.
Dear Lord, You healed bodies, minds, and spirits during your ministry. We ask your healing power to be manifest to the girls and boys, women and men whose lives are threatened by the outbreak of Ebola in Sierra Leone. May they receive the treatment they need for their bodies to fight the infection. May they know the comfort and assurance of your presence. May those who grieve the loss of loved ones find their hope in You.
God of healing, comfort and give hope to those affected, Almighty God help to stop the spread of this disease so that Craftshare and all educational Institutions in the country will start effective schooling and training activities. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Pray for people living in fear of Ebola.
Ignorance and fear lead people to avoid medical facilities, increasing the risk of spreading the disease through contact.
Heavenly Father, bring hope and clarity of mind to those who might not seek treatment for themselves or their loved ones because of fear.
You, whose “prefect love drives out fear … ” (1 John 4:18), embrace Your children whose lives are threatened by Ebola. May they heed your message from Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Pray for all who work to care for the sick and cure Ebola.
In Your mercy, Lord, inspire and enable all those who labor to end the spread of Ebola. May their actions bear fruit in healthy lives and communities. We ask for your wisdom to fall on those who seek a cure for the disease. Protect caregivers from contracting the virus themselves. We ask all these for the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord
